Our volunteers play an important role at the League and each task performed makes a significant contribution to the health and welfare of the animals. By offering your time and talent, you improve the quality of life for our animals while they wait for their new forever homes. If you think you can't volunteer because you'd want to take all of the animals home, there are other areas and departments that need your help and when you volunteer, you help 1000's!
If you're unable to volunteer, please consider making a donation to help the animals. Click below to make your donation!
Volunteer Open Houses are held at the Animal Rescue League. Attending an open house and scheduling a follow up interview with the Volunteer Program Manager are prerequisites to volunteering on campus. Training in certain areas must also be completed prior to the first shift.
Those attending an open house should look for 'Volunteer Orientation' lawn signs to direct them to the correct building. The sessions typically last 1.5 hours depending on the number of attendees. We begin and end on time - so please be punctual. The doors will close five minutes after the scheduled start time and those who are late will be asked to register for another session.
Each Open House is immediately followed by a foster parent training class. Qualified potential volunteers will be asked to commit to a weekly schedule and a minimum of 4 hours per week in a specific role recommended by the Volunteer Progam Manager and agreed to by the volunteer.
As a reminder, these open houses are meant for people ages 17 or older; for young adults and adults who can work independently with minimal supervision or special accommodation.
