Media Contact: Cara MacVane

Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League will send over 129 Felines on Flight to Find Forever Homes in Boston on Tuesday, August 29, 2017

WHAT? Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League in West Palm Beach will be flying approximately 129 kittens in a chartered plane to Boston, MA Signature Flight Support Airport, to find forever homes in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Hampshire and Maine thanks to Peggy Adams partnership with Animal Rescue League of Boston, Potter League for Animals, Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland, and Salem Animal Rescue League and Darbster Kitty in New Hampshire.

WHEN / WHERE?

Tuesday, August 29, 2017

9am - Loading 129 kittens at Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League, 3200 N. Military Trail, West Palm Beach, FL 33409

9:30am - Atlantic Aviation PBI - Kittens will be loading onto plane, 3800 Southern Blvd, West Palm Beach, FL 33406

10am - Takeoff

WHY? This transfer is taking place because it’s kitten season in Palm Beach County and Peggy Adams is over-crowded with kittens with more than 800 felines currently in its care; Animal Rescue League of Boston, Potter League for Animals, Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland, Salem Animal Rescue League and Darbster Kitty in New Hampshire will find forever homes for these kittens.  This will help create more space at Peggy Adams so we can all save more lives.  Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League provides shelter to lost, homeless and abandoned animals.  Due to it being kitten season in South Florida, there is an overabundance of cats in Palm Beach County. This overabundance of kittens is yet another reminder that all animals should be spayed/neutered to end the surplus of homeless animals. All programs at Peggy Adams support the Countdown 2 Zero (C2Z) initiative and its goal of saving all adoptable animals in Palm Beach County.

Note to Editors: Generous donors have stepped up to help fund these rescue flights (this is the third rescue flight since June) to save the lives of more than 200 adorable kittens and cats. To fly one kitten is roughly $200.  For those in the community who are interested in helping sponsor kittens on this flight and fund an additional flight in October please visit a special fundraising page: PeggyAdams.org/KittensInFlight.

COUNTDOWN 2 ZERO INITIATIVE

All programs at Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League support the Countdown 2 Zero (C2Z) initiative and its goal of saving all adoptable animals in Palm Beach County.  C2Z was launched by Peggy Adams in 2014 in partnership with Palm Beach County Animal Care and Control (PBCACC).  As part of the C2Z effort, Peggy Adams and PBCACC host the Annual Countdown 2 Zero Mega-Adoption Event which brings together more than 30 local rescue groups and features more than 500 adoptable animals.  The 2017 event will take place on Saturday, September 9th, at the Palm Beach County Convention Center.  For more information, please visit www.Countdown2Zero.org.
