Hurricane Irma Results in Large Number of Homeless Animals Adoption Fees Waived at Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League & Palm Beach County Animal Care & Control

NOW THROUGH OCTOBER 14, 2017

West Palm Beach, FL- (September 22, 2017) Now through October 14, 2017, all those who find a furry friend to adopt at Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League or at Palm Beach County Animal Care & Control will have their Adoption Fees Waived.

In the aftermath of Hurricane Irma, too many animals have been abandoned here in Palm Beach County. That number is continuing to increase daily at both shelters.  Peggy Adams is working side-by-side with Palm Beach County Animal Care and Control to save lives and reunite lost pets with their families.  Peggy Adams currently has more than 800 animals in its care and with this special promotion, they hope to make more room for local homeless animals that need to find a home.

“Peggy Adams, along with Palm Beach County Animal Care & Control, will waive all adoption fees now until the October 14th Countdown 2 Zero Adoption Event that takes place at the Palm Beach County Convention Center,” said Rich Anderson, Executive Director/CEO for Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League. “We always have a wide variety of adorable cats, kittens, dogs and puppies looking for their forever loving home and now, as a result of the damage Hurricane Irma caused, we have even more.”

All adoptable pets are available for viewing online at PeggyAdams.org and PBCGOV.COM/animal.  Pet parents must meet all League adoption requirements. Palm Beach County Rabies tag fee applies to Palm Beach County residents and special adoption procedures may apply to animals rescued during Hurricane Irma at Palm Beach County Animal Care & Control.

If you are unable to adopt but still wish to help Peggy Adams care for these animals in our community, please donate at peggyadams.org/donate or text “Peggy” to 41444.  Anderson continued with, “We are fortunate and grateful that this community is so generous in its support and the animals need that to continue. We also have an immediate need right now at both shelters for volunteers to provide temporary foster care for these animals.  We will provide all the supplies, we just need people to supply a temporary home so that all of these animals will be saved.”

All programs at Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League support the Countdown 2 Zero (C2Z) initiative and its goal of saving all adoptable animals in Palm Beach County.  C2Z was launched by Peggy Adams in 2014 in partnership with Palm Beach County Animal Care and Control (PBCACC).  As part of the C2Z effort, Peggy Adams and PBCACC host the Annual Countdown 2 Zero Mega-Adoption Event which brings together more than 30 local rescue groups and features more than 500 adoptable animals.  The 2017 event will be Saturday, October 14th, at the Palm Beach County Convention Center.  For more information visit Countdown2Zero.org.
