Puerto Rico Collection Drive going on now at Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League for victims of Hurricane Maria
West Palm Beach, FL- (October 3, 2017) Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League, the largest and oldest animal rescue organization in Palm Beach County, is a drop-off location for donations being flown (in partnership with The Humane Society of the United States) to Puerto Rico.
“When Hurricane Irma was about to strike Florida, The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) was here to help. They were part of our effort to evacuate 250 animals out of our shelter and the shelter at Palm Beach County Animal Care and Control. So, it was only natural for Peggy Adams to help after the devastation Hurricane Maria has caused in Puerto Rico. The people and animals of Puerto Rico desperately need all the help they can get. HSUS has been flying supplies to Puerto Rico and evacuating animals on a daily basis. Peggy Adams has already provided roughly 2,000 pounds of dog and cat food for these relief flights and we will continue to do our part and serve as a drop-off location for the community”, reports Rich Anderson, Executive Director and CEO of Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League, “We have the staff and volunteers to take the items and the space to warehouse it before each flight, so we will continue to collect these items until further notice.”
Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League is also collecting supplies for other relief flights to Puerto Rico in partnership with several other local animal rescue organizations (Pet Haven Rescue, Big Dog Ranch Rescue, Rescue Life, and A Second Chance Puppies and Kittens Rescue) and Guardians of Rescue.
