Largest One-Day Adoption Event in Palm Beach County

WEST PALM BEACH, FL-(October 11, 2017) The fourth annual Countdown 2 Zero (C2Z) Adoption Event, presented by the Lois Pope LIFE Foundation, Inc. and Petco Foundation, will take place on Saturday, October 14, 2017, from 10 am to 5 pm inside the air-conditioned Palm Beach County Convention Center in West Palm Beach.  This free event is the largest ever local pet adoption event that will feature close to 1,000 animals (dogs, cats, kittens, puppies, rabbits, birds and guinea pigs) seeking new families and homes.

Organized by Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League and Palm Beach County Animal Care and Control, the Countdown 2 Zero Adoption Event is a collaborative effort of over 30 local animal rescue organizations to save the lives of animals in Palm Beach County.  The past three C2Z adoption events found nearly 1,000 animals their forever homes.

Local dignitaries that will be in attendance include Congresswoman Lois Frankel, Palm Beach County Commission Hal Valeche, and Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw. Presenting sponsor Philanthropist Lois Pope along with Rich Anderson, Executive Director and CEO of Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League and Dianne Suave Director of Palm Beach County Animal Care & Control will join local celebrities Mark Kelly and Ted White from WPBF 25 News.

"This is Palm Beach County’s largest one-day adoption event,” said Rich Anderson, Executive Director/CEO of Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League, "Although Hurricane Irma caused a five-week delay, this is the day the local animal rescue community comes together, united in our efforts to save the lives of homeless animals in Palm Beach County.  Together, through C2Z, we are working to save the life of every single adoptable animal in our community."  Anderson continued with, “After Hurricane Irma an inordinate amount of strays, owner surrenders and abandoned animals were found all over our community, we are diligently working to reunite animals with their owners.  Unfortunately, we will not be able to do that in all cases, some of those animals will also be available for adoption at C2Z.”

"The C2Z Adoption Event is just one of the many ways we come together to help support the important C2Z initiative," said Dianne Sauve, Director of Palm Beach County Animal Care & Control.  “In addition to promoting the adoption of local rescue animals in need of loving homes, we also encourage everyone to spay/neuter their pets, as this is the most humane way to reduce the number of unwanted puppies and kittens born each day," stated Sauve.

Admission and parking is free for the Countdown 2 Zero Adoption Event.  Many of the rescue groups will be offering special discounts and adoption incentives, and all new pet parents will receive special gifts.  In addition, rabies license tags will be complimentary (where applicable) for each adopted pet that will reside in Palm Beach County courtesy of Palm Beach County Animal Care and Control.

Rescue partners that will be at this year’s event with adoptable pets include: Adopt a Cat Foundation, All for One, Animal Rescue Force of South FL, Barky Pines Animal Rescue & Sanctuary, Big Dog Ranch Rescue, Blessed Paws Rescue, Coastal Boxer Rescue, Compassionate Pug Rescue, Crazy Cavies Guinea Pig Rescue, Destiny for Dogs, East Coast Rabbit Rescue, Feeling Fine Canine and Equine, Forgotten Florida Felines, Furry Friends, Get a Life Pet Rescue, Great Dane Rescue of South Florida, GTS Husky Rescue, Justin Bartlett Animal Rescue, Kitty Karma of Delray, Labrador Retriever Rescue of Florida, Loxahatchee Animal Rescue Community, Luv-A-Pet, Palm Beach Parrot Rescue, Palm Beach Animal Care & Control, Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League, Redemption Rescue League, Rising Star Rottweiler Rescue, Save a Pet FL, Tri-County Animal Rescue, and Will’s Way.
