Nearly 300 Pets Found Forever Homes at

Fourth Annual Countdown 2 Zero Adoption Event

WEST PALM BEACH, FL-(October 17, 2017) The Fourth Annual Countdown 2 Zero (C2Z) Adoption event resulted in 273 pets finding forever homes!  Presented by The Lois Pope LIFE Foundation, Inc. and Petco Foundation and hosted by Palm Beach County Animal Care & Control and Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League, C2Z took place on October 14, 2017, at the Palm Beach County Convention Center. This annual event was a collaborative effort of 30 local animal rescue organizations to save the lives of animals in Palm Beach County. Over the past four C2Z Adoption events, 1,148 animals have found forever homes.

Thousands of guests attended the fourth annual Countdown 2 Zero Adoption Event to find their perfect pet match.  Nearly 1,000 of Palm Beach County's adoptable dogs, cats, kittens, puppies, guinea pigs, birds and bunnies were on-site.

Executive Director and CEO of Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League, Rich Anderson, stated, "We are thrilled that 273 animals are now in their new, loving forever homes thanks to the Countdown 2 Zero Adoption Event -  the largest pet adoption event in Palm Beach County. This equates to 546 animal lives saved because every adopted animal makes room in a shelter for another pet who will not be euthanized due to over population.  Although Hurricane Irma caused a five-week delay at this event the local animal rescue community comes together, united in our efforts to save the lives of homeless animals in Palm Beach County.  C2Z is a true collaboration to achieve that goal.  It’s exactly what Countdown 2 Zero is all about; adopting from a local shelter when looking for a new pet."

"The C2Z Adoption Event is just one of the many ways we come together to help support the important C2Z initiative," said Dianne Sauve, Director of Palm Beach County Animal Care & Control.  “In addition to promoting the adoption of local rescue animals in need of loving homes, we also encourage everyone to spay/neuter their pets, as this is the most humane way to reduce the number of unwanted puppies and kittens born each day," stated Sauve.

Local animal rescue groups that attended included: Adopt a Cat Foundation, All for One, Animal Rescue Force of South FL, Big Dog Ranch Rescue, Blessed Paws Rescue, Coastal Boxer Rescue, Compassionate Pug Rescue, Crazy Cavies Guinea Pig Rescue, Destiny for Dogs, East Coast Rabbit Rescue, Feeling Fine Canine and Equine, Forgotten Florida Felines, Furry Friends, Get a Life Pet Rescue, Great Dane Rescue of South Florida, GTS Husky Rescue, Justin Bartlett Animal Rescue, Kitty Karma of Delray, Labrador Retriever Rescue of Florida, Loxahatchee Animal Rescue Community, Luv-A-Pet, Palm Beach Parrot Rescue, Palm Beach Animal Care & Control, Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League, Redemption Rescue League, Rising Star Rottweiler Rescue, Save a Pet FL, Tri-County Animal Rescue, and Will’s Way.
