(West Palm Beach, Florida, February 3, 2017) – Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League’s strong financial health combined with their commitment to accountability and transparency have earned a 4-star rating from Charity Navigator, America’s largest independent charity evaluator.

This is the fourth consecutive time that Peggy Adams has earned this top distinction. According to Charity Navigator, only 10% of charities evaluated nationwide have received at least four consecutive 4-star evaluations, meaning Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League outperforms most other charities in America.

Since 2002, using objective analysis, Charity Navigator has awarded only the most fiscally responsible organizations a 4-star rating. In 2011, Charity Navigator added 17 metrics, focused on governance and ethical practices as well as measures of openness, to its ratings methodology.  These Accountability & Transparency metrics, which account for 50 percent of a charity’s overall rating, reveal which charities operate in accordance with industry best practices and whether those charities are open with their donors and stakeholders.  On June 1, 2016, Charity Navigator upgraded its methodology for rating each charity’s’ financial health with CN 2.1. These enhancements further substantiates the financial health of Charity Navigator’s 4-star charities.

Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League’s exceptional 4-star rating sets it apart from its peers and demonstrates its trustworthiness to the public,” according to Michael Thatcher, President & CEO of Charity Navigator. “Only a quarter of charities rated by Charity Navigator receive the distinction of our 4-star rating. This adds Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League to a preeminent group of charities working to overcome our world’s most pressing challenges. Based on its 4-star rating, people can trust that their donations are going to a financially responsible and ethical charity when they decide to support Peggy Adams.”

“It’s important our donors trust that we’re using their donations wisely to accomplish Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League’s lifesaving mission,” said Rich Anderson, Executive Director/CEO.  “Our 4-star Charity Navigator rating demonstrates to our supporters our good governance and financial accountability,” continued Anderson.

Four consecutive years of being recognized as a 4-Star charity coincides with an amazing growth in the programs and services at Peggy Adams and its impact on the lives of animals in Palm Beach County since 2012.

For example, in 2016:

  • 45,234 animals benefited from Peggy Adams’ wide array of critical programs (an increase of more than 21,000 animals compared to 2012)
  • 5,781 animals adopted into new loving homes (an increase of more than 2,500 compared to 2012)
  • 16,167 spay/neuter surgeries (nearly two times as many as in 2012)

“Thanks to the generous support of our community, 2016 was the biggest year in the 91-year history of Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League,” according to Anderson. “More and more lives are being saved because each day more and more people are joining us in our efforts to save every adoptable animal in Palm Beach County”, concluded Anderson.
