5-Week Basic Obedience Course

Tired of your dog not coming when called the first time you ask? Annoyed by a dog who drags you for a walk or doesn’t seem to notice when you’re talking to him? If your dog’s behavior has got you a bit frustrated or embarrassed, or if you just want a little more polite behavior, it might be time for an Obedience Class.

Living with an engaged and responsive dog is one of life’s greatest pleasures! At Lucky Dog Training Club we have designed a four-level Obedience program (outlined below) to help you on your journey to enjoying a calmer and better-behaved dog.

Why Enroll in an Obedience Class?

We want to help make life with your dog easier by allowing you to enjoy a calm and well-behaved companion. Teaching your dog to understand your obedience commands is important, but it’s the relationship-building that really counts. When you build communication skills and a better relationship with your dog, better manners and obedience will easily follow.

We will train or improve basic obedience skills and improve manners. We will work on attention, impulse control, and the ability to work around distractions. We will help you build better motivation and confidence and discuss how to solve some pesky behavior problems.

The Basic Obedience and Manners Class is the foundation for all future training and is perfect for improving the behavior of your favorite pooch. We will train or improve basic obedience skills and improve manners. We will work on attention, impulse control, and the ability to work around distractions. We will help you build better motivation and confidence and discuss how to solve some pesky behavior problems. A few things that we will focus on in this class include:

  • Improving the manners of your favorite pooch.
  • Improving basic obedience skills such as sit, down, stay, go to your mat, and come.
  • Solving troublesome problems such as pulling on leash.
  • Using impulse control games to teach leave it and other skills to decrease unwanted behaviors such as pulling toward lizards, squirrels or other dogs while on walks.
  • Getting better attention and focus so your dog will respond to you the first time, even around distractions.
  • Teaching your dog to work around other dogs and people, and build drive, motivation, and confidence.
  • Teaching you how to utilize the power of the clicker to teach skills quickly using positive techniques
  • Teaching you to reward success, not punish mistakes. This results in a dog that has trust and confidence in you and who is eager to learn.

5-Week Loose Leash Walking Class

Tired of your dog walking you and pulling to get to squirrels and lizards?  Annoyed by a dog who drags you for a walk or doesn’t seem to notice you during your walks? If your dog’s behavior has got you a bit frustrated or embarrassed, or if you just want a little more polite behavior, this class is for you.

Learn different techniques and skills to help your dog enjoy their walk. We can help you enjoy a calmer and better-behaved dog with our Loose Leash Walking and Heel class. Come walk with us!

We want to help make life with your dog easier by allowing you to enjoy a calm and well-behaved companion. You will be taught the skills and concepts needed to better understand your dog and how to change from being dragged down the street to having your dog walking by your side in a harmonious stride.

The goal of this class is to help make walks with your dog easier and more enjoyable. Not every technique is for every dog but one of them will be a perfect fit for you and your dog.

 What to expect in class?

Our Loose Leash Walking class consists of five one-hour sessions with you and your dog. We will work on leash handling skills, getting your dog used to the feel of the loose leash, as well as different tools that we will use to help keep your dog’s attention while on walks. We’ll walk outside with other dogs and distractions. We will also learn troubleshooting in case your dog gets overly excited by distractions, and show you tips on how to successfully pass other dogs while walking and how to keep your dog safe!

Heeling is a complex cue that requires focus and obedience. We will work with you and your dog on focusing skills and the tools that are needed to have your dog in tune with you on each and every walk.
