Over 200 Pets Found Forever Homes at 5th Annual Countdown 2 Zero Adoption Event Presented by The Lois Pope LIFE Foundation

Palm Beach County, FL - (September 14, 2018) The fifth annual Countdown 2 Zero (C2Z) Adoption Event presented by The Lois Pope LIFE Foundation, Inc., resulted in 206 pets finding forever homes!  Hosted by Palm Beach County Animal Care and Control and Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League, C2Z took place on September 8, 2018 at the South Florida Fairgrounds- Expo Center East in West Palm Beach.  This annual event was a collaborative effort of more than 20 local animal rescue organizations to save the lives of Palm Beach County animals.  Over the last five C2Z Adoption events, over 1,300 animals have found forever homes.

Thousands of guests attended the fifth annual Countdown 2 Zero Adoption Event to find their perfect pet.  Hundreds of Palm Beach County’s adoptable dogs, puppies, cats, kittens, bunnies, roosters, hens, peacocks, a turkey and two pigs were on-site.

Executive Director and CEO of Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League, Rich Anderson stated, “The Countdown 2 Zero Adoption Event is the largest pet adoption event in Palm Beach County and we are thrilled that 206 animals found loving forever homes on this day!  This equates to 412 animals’ lives saved because every adopted animal makes room in a shelter for another lost or abandoned pet that needs our help. C2Z is a true collaboration to achieve that goal.  It’s exactly what Countdown 2 Zero is all about; adopting from a local shelter when looking for a new pet."

"The C2Z Adoption Event is just one of the many ways we come together to help support the important C2Z initiative," said Dianne Sauve, Director of Palm Beach County Animal Care & Control.  “In addition to promoting the adoption of local rescue animals in need of loving homes, we also encourage everyone to spay/neuter their pets, as this is the most humane way to reduce the number of unwanted puppies and kittens born each day," stated Sauve.

Local animal Rescue partners that attended included: Adopt A Cat Foundation, Amber’s Animal Outreach, Animal Rescue Force of South Florida, Barky Pines Animal Rescue & Sanctuary, Big Dog Ranch Rescue, Blessed Paws Rescue, Compassionate Pug Rescue, East Coast Rabbit Rescue, Elite Greyhound Adoptions, Inc., Forgotten Florida Felines, Great Dane Rescue of South Florida, Kibblez of Love, Kitty Karma, Labrador Retriever Rescue of Florida, Luv-A-Pet, Mr. Jojo’s Rescue, Palm Beach County Animal Care & Control, Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League, Rising Star Rottweiler Rescue, Save a Pet Florida, Inc., and Tri County Animal Rescue.

Additional partners included: American Humane, Dolly’s Dream, Loxahatchee Lost and Found Pets and South Florida Link Coalition.
