West Palm Beach, FL- (February 3, 2022) Close to 700 people and their furry companions came out for Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League’s 21st Annual Barry Crown Walk for the Animals on February 19 at the Meyer Amphitheatre in West Palm Beach. The largest pet-friendly walk in Palm Beach County raised nearly $150,000 for animals at Peggy Adams waiting to find their forever homes.
As participants arrived, they enjoyed music, lite bites, a fabulous silent auction, a variety of vendors, and a raffle area with great prizes. Attendees and their pets participated in a one-mile scenic walk along Flagler Drive. The event concluded at center stage with a pet costume contest with unique prize baskets. Categories included Best Dressed, Most Creative, Owner/Pet Look-A-Like, and Best in Show. Jennifer Ross of Sunny 107.9 FM and WFTL 850AM once again graciously served as the event’s emcee; as well as Jossie Carbonare, reporter with WPBF 25.
This year’s walk mascot was Olivia. Olivia was found outside a home in late 2021, injured and alone. She was dirty and had a traumatic injury to her right leg, leaving a bone exposed. The limb was injured beyond saving; Palm Beach County Animal Care & Control found it necessary to amputate Olivia's right paw. Olivia then arrived at Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League for much-needed recovery, TLC, and medical care.
After being cared for by the Peggy Adams’ team, Olivia's upbeat and charming personality started to blossom and was one of the dogs that was featured in a Peggy Adams’ fundraising event. Her adopter, Jenna saw a photo of her before the event and instantly fell in love. Jenna notes, "Dogs in shelters need homes where they get a second chance at life, families who care, and to know what it’s like to be loved. I am so grateful for everything the rescues do but I’m especially thankful for Peggy Adams rescuing my girl.” Olivia and her new family led the Walk in support of all the animals at Peggy Adams waiting for their forever homes!
“As a nonprofit, Peggy Adams relies on community support to help us provide services to more than 30,000 dogs, cats, puppies and kittens every year,” said Rich Anderson, Executive Director/CEO of Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League. “We are very thankful to all of those who came out, participated and sponsored the Walk. Because of everyone who supported this event, we can save the lives of countless more animals in Palm Beach County.”
