On Saturday, January 19, 2019, the Young Friends partnered with Royal Poinciana Plaza to host a “Royal Adopt and Shop” event from 4-6pm in the east courtyard. Peggy Adams brought 7 adoptable dogs and 4 adoptable cats in the PetMobile. Of those animals, 3 dogs and 3 cats were adopted! In addition to mingling with the animals, over 100 guests enjoyed live music, gelato provided by Sant Ambroeus, and margaritas from Coyo Taco. The event was covered on the front page of the Palm Beach Daily News the following day. The Young Friends look forward to continuing this partnership with the Royal Poinciana Plaza and hosting more events with them in the future.

On June 7th, the City of West Palm Beach unveiled the Fairy Tale Playhouses as part of their Summer in Paradise promotion. Peggy Adams was selected as one of fifteen area charities to participate and pair up with a local artist. We were partnered with the very talented Frank Navarette, who transformed our playhouse to depict Jack and the Beanstalk. Each playhouse also had a decorated mailbox outside – ours was a cow! The houses were on display in June and July, where the public could vote for their favorite playhouse to win the “People’s Choice Award.” On July 26th, each house was auctioned off to benefit their corresponding charities. We are thrilled to report that Frank Navarrette’s depiction of Jack and the Beanstalk, partnered with Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League, won the People’s Choice Award out of the more than 8,000 votes taken.
